Goodmorning folks. After researching here and elsewhere I've found mixed results as to whether or not you need to re map after adding an exhaust. The more general consensus is that you can do exhaust or intake before the tune but not both. I have also heard with v&h or other full pipes you need a tune.

This is my first bike but I know how important back pressure was to my cars engine to keep it running properly and I was wondering how it'd work out on this application. Also if the quiet baffles would give it more back pressure?

Any input is appreciated.

Its a 2014 if that makes any difference.

You are correct. The general consensus is that if you just add pipes, then you do not need to remap. If you change the air cleaner, then you will need to add a tuner. You are going to benefit from a tuner no matter what as the bike runs very lean from the factory in stock form.

I have the sideshots with the quiet baffles. I believe the quiet baffles do give you a little more back pressure. These pipes also have a small chamber that connects the pipes. If you are looking for maximum performance, these pipes might not be for you. They do look and sound great though. You might check the V&H webside as I believe the O2 sensors changed in 2014 and am not sure if they have these pipes for your bike yet.

Na performance isn't my aim. Sound and style is what I was after. Just making sure I wasn't gonna be riding a turd if I didn't get the tune at the same time. And thanks I'll check into it.

EDIT: son of a bitch! according to v&h they have no plans to make them for the 2014. Figures the pipes that I want they aren't going forward with.

2014 has cats and a lot of pipes will be absent because of that.

They make the short shots for the 2014. Only change they talk about is the o2 going from a 18mm to a 12mm. Would that mean I can use the older pipes with a 12mm->18mm bung adapter?

Don't think so. The new 12mm O2 fitting puts the sensor deeper into the pipes. Not sure you will be able to do that with the current pipes. The -14 sensor might not be the same as the pre -14 sensors.

i already ran in to this problem with my 14 iron. the whole bracket that holds the pipes to the bike needed to be redone because of the addition of ABS. so if you have a 14 you have to get the V&H pipes made for the 14 bikes. its not just the 02 sensors

I assume that's a problem whether I have abs or not? Because I don't. As far as a bracket goes how complex would it be to fab? because I have a full shop at my disposal. I'm dead set on sideshots.

i thought that all the 14 sportsers had ABS. they already have the short shots out for the 14s, i should be picking mine up next week when i get some free time. not sure about the sideshots for the 14 though

when i called V&H about the fitment of the short shots on the14s they told me they had to push the pipes out to clear the abs module, and redesign the bracket

No, ABS is optional. And I don't have them. And I talked to v&h yesterday and they said they have no plans to support the 2014 for the sideshots. I don't like short shots and really I was after the sideshots for the style. I'm starting to think the '13 pipes with a 12mm to 18mm o2 bung adapter would work but I'm getting to where I don't wanna hassle with buying them and it not work out.
