On my 2006 Sporty I put the spring plate back in the clutch pack because I didn't like the feel of it and replaced the clutch cable

On my 2007 Sporty I added 1400 miles to the odometer over the weekend

Man, your riding milage is seriously impressive!

I can empathize with liking the spring plate as opposed to the extra plate kit. The squeaking noise when feathering the clutch with my Barnett extra plate kit is kind of annoying.

On that note, I FINALLY replaced my primary fluid after well over a year after changing my clutch pack. I don't know if new clutch packs cause extra shavings on the drain plug or what, but it was a pretty alarming amount. My primary chain also seems a bit tight after having had the stator replaced by a reputable local shop. I might try loosening that a little and seeing if there's fewer shavings next year. Fingers crossed.

I also FINALLY cleaned by K&N air filter after 2 or 3 years last week. Nasty. I'd been wondering if that was part of why my bike has been running rather poorly lately. Checked the spark plugs and they didn't seem fouled. I added some Seafoam to the tank yesterday and did about 40 miles of riding before filling up again. It seemed to improve by the end of my ride, but as soon as I filled up, it was running even worse. I really hadn't let it sit that long, and was using ethanol free during the winter months. Hmm... [EDIT: Starting to think it's crud blocking the tank/petcock filter, and I may just need to clean that out]

Yesterday I finally took my poor salty, rusty, filthy girl to a manual car wash. Got a fair bit of the grime off, but the wheels and engine guard in particular still look filthy. Might have to spring for a detailing service. Yikes. Sadly she's just looking overall nasty these days since I haven't kept up with cleaning.

Lastly, I'm starting to experience some more electrical gremlins again. I suspect (though can't confirm) it might be related to my Quad Lock magnetic phone charger. When connected to the bike battery with a Battery Tender USB connector, my phone would stop charging after some kind of choppy surge, and I would occasionally notice the speedometer drop to 0 for a split second when that happened. I tried switching the charger to a separate external battery pack, but that keeps physically disconnecting, so I wasn't able to determine if it was a bike problem or a charger/cable problem.

I do love my bike and the freedom she provides, but man she's being a bit of a hassle right now. Makes me wish I had a second bike that was less of a maintenance fuss.

I still haven't replaced my cables after putting taller bars on but I'm not wild about the routing. For sure I couldn't have gotten away with anything taller. Anyway, I'm a little toasted today after hitting route 66 yesterday. Tons of old cars out so that made the ride even cooler but I didn't take any pictures.

Purchased the 2007 883 with Screaming Eagle slip ons. I have hearing loss and I'd like to not have to wear the ear plugs. I want to hear around me.
Scored brand new take off stock muffs on FakeBook Market place for $50 and put them on.
I moved bike to 2nd home on the shore where I'm closer to the neighbors and I wanted to quite it down some for that reason too.
Flame me if you wish, but so far after 2 rides, I'm liking it better. I can still put the SE slip ons back on if I change my mind.

My stock mufflers had converters in them and were restricted beyond belief so they'll never go back on but I did put lollypops in my K-mart specials with the baffles still in.

Years ago a guy here used to do carry blood between hospitals when there was urgent need. He used to make his bike as quite as possible. Riding over the limit through towns and built up areas did not draw any attention.
