Default Pulled the trigger on my first bike

Well after searching all winter and going back and forth on multiple models I finally got myself a bike. It's a '94 Sportster 883 w/ the Screamin' Eagle 1200 kit. It has 12,400 original miles on it and I picked it up for $3k.

I want to get a new tank because the current tank looks to have something flaking off inside of it, I am going with a peanut tank but not sure which brand to go with. I am also looking to chop the rear fender so if anyone could direct me to any tips that would be helpful.

Paughco makes some equality tanks.

For the chop... http://www.chopcult.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6233 not a sportster but you get the idea. I just did mine including cutting the struts...truthfully, easier than i thought it would be..as long as you have the right tools.

Awesome, thanks! I was planning on cutting the struts but I would need to swap the turn signals out.

Any suggestions on places to get a stainless bolt kit so I can swap out all of the rusted chrome bolts. I have a list of things to do in the next few months before riding season starts up.

Hey, Congratulations … nice find.

Lowes or Home Depot is your easiest source for stainless steel bolts.

Cutting the rear struts is not a problem, provided you’ve a plan for what to do next.

I’m about 15 miles north if you need assistance.

I am looking to swap out my turn signals and brake light for the bullet style signals that double as signals and brake light. Do you know if these would work for that type of setup if I get the correct module?

Congrats and the bike already has a raw look to it so with the mods you have planned it's going to look real nice.

Beware the bolts you replace with stainless. Tensile strength could be a concern.

Do you suggest another type for specific areas?
