Default Trying the Iron Butt on my 48

Kind of a last minute thing. The HDfourms mascot has been hibernating far too long at my place. Ive tried to hand it off to half a dozen people over the last few months, for some reason it never works out. Came up with the brilliant idea to combine the drop off with an iron butt. Kevin at DK Customs is going to be my drop off and the half way point for the iron butt.

Spent some time yesterday and today prepping the bike and myself. All I got to do now is leave. Going to take off between 6:30 and 7:00 AM tomorrow. I hate interstates but this one is going to be almost all interstate. From Stockbridge head north through Chattanooga then to Nashville. At Nashville head west to Memphis. Kevins shop at DK Customs is just south of there. Do the hand off and a little chit chat then off to Tupelo. From Tupelo down to Meridian. Meridian through Birmingham then back home to Stockbridge (south of Atlanta). 1009 miles according to google maps. Should be a few extra for gas and such.

Google maps says 14 hours 51 minutes, frequent stops for gas and smokes Im shooting for 18-19 hours.

Heres a link to the route.

Wish me luck.

I know the tail bag seems kind of excessive for 18 hours but there is going to be an almost 40 degree temperature swing during the ride. At the start Im wearing chaps, lined jacket, warmer gloves and my full face helmet. By mid day Ill probably be just my vest, lighter gloves and 3/4 helmet. That, along with rain gear, energy bars, beef jerkey, 6 bottles of water and a change of clothes just in case takes a lot of room.

Rog, what are you using to protect your phone but so that you can look down and see it on your tank? I'm about to do a big trip myself and would love one of those
