Default New V&H Short Shots

I just installed Vance and Hines Short Shots on my 14' Iron. These pipes look great, but are way too loud with the standard baffles.....if you would call those things baffles....LOL! The lack of back pressure really impacts low end torque.

I ordered and modified V&H quiet baffles by adding fiberglass baffles material to the input side of the baffles......that made it reasonably loud with a real deep throaty sound. I love it now!

Great look. I'm thinking of these once I get my new bike and can't decide between chrome or black, you're really giving the chrome a good run for the money, nice job!

I put a set on my wife's XL883. They are obnoxious, but she won't let me change the baffles.

Yeah, they are damn loud. Riding behind a bike with Short Shots is brutal. Talk about setting off car alarms, lol.

I guess it's all relative. I bought a set to for my 03 Deuce that had V&H 2n2 on it when I got it. The 2n2 had the stock baffles in them, and my Short Shots are quieter than the 2n2. Therefore they don't seem loud at all to me.

Nice I'm about to install these today on me 14 48. Did you end up using the head gasket since the bike is so new or did you swap it out?

Don't forget to get Torque Cones to install while you are installing the pipes. Puts some back pressure back and you won't loose the low end.

Autobite,
I only had about 450 miles on the bike when I installed the Short Shots. I re-used the original exhaust flange gasket.....it was in great condition, like new. I didn't have any problems with it.

With your bike being that new, you should have no problem reusing the stock flanges. Just make sure you don't bend the C-clips when removing them.

I would pull and replace the port gaskets. They are cheap to replace and can save you problems in the long run.
