Default attempted idle drop method

Was trying to adjust the mix using idle drop and ran into a problem. I could get the idle to drop going lean but never did the engine want to die or drop significantly turning the screw out (rich) even at 4 turns. So I just left it at 2 1/2. Bike seems to run fine like that but when I got it the screw was out 3 or 3 1/2. Not sure what this means, do I need to rejet? No mods besides cutting airbox and removing baffles, bike is 05 883l 2k miles.

Assuming the jets are stock, 2.5 to 3 turns on the mix screw should be fine with those minor mods. No need for re-jet.

The idle drop method gets you pretty close. I've found for fine tuning you need to just ride and check gas mileage/spark plugs to get a better idea of how it is running. Shouldn't need more than a 1/4 turn either way to be perfect from where you set it with the idle method.
