Sportster adj pushrods
Hallo again. I have another problem with my sporty.
I've bought a new pushrod kit to my 86-90 sporty 1220
(883 converted with WISECO dished pistons, OEM 883 heads and camshafts).
This Andrews pushrods are adjustible.
I have a problem with correct adjustment of this kit.
It's written on the package"3 to 4 turns" - set on the base part od camshaft.
OK. How many turns is the best for this old bike?
I saw on Youtube - TC88 - 20 flats (3 and 1/3 turns) is best. My bike is working not so good on this setting.
Anybody knows - how many turns is the best for 1987 sportster?

With hydraulic lifters and adjustable pushrods, you need to adjust them out until the lifter is bottomed. This procedure involves lengthening them until they are tight, let sit, lengthen until tight, let sit, etc. until the lifter is fully bottomed. Then you need to shorten them by 0.100" to set the proper preload in the lifter.
It really depends on how your valvetrain is, and it's mostly done by feel. It shouldn't take too long to do. Just be patient and do it right.
