Default Unimpressed with Mustang Low Tripper.. what next?

Bought it because I thought it'd be an improvement over stock seat, wanted a lower seat than a Mustang Vintage, and I thought it would look good on a Sporty.

Well, there about 1.5" of bare metal between the gas tank and the seat, which Mustang does have listed on their website. It just looks worse than I expected. I will admit other than that, the seat does look great on the bike, it isn't super tall or anything, it does look decent.

I was only riding for maybe 2 hours last night after the football games. Wasn't 30 minutes and my butt was feeling it, it wasn't awful until the end, but I thought it would be a hell of a lot more of an improvement than that.

Went through J&P Cycles, already talked to them about an exchange for another seat. That's my current debate. Keep the Low Tripper, exchange for Tripper, or exchange for Vintage Solo. Looking for input on that. Hoping I'll get people saying the standard Tripper is comfortable because I really do like the look, and don't like how high the Vintage will seat me.

I don't have this seat, nor any aftermarket seat for that matter, but I believe you should give it time to "break-in"

Two bikes ago I had an 06 Electra Glide Standard and the stock seat was too soft.
I put a Mustang on it and the first few rides were less than ideal.
The other guys in the forum said to give it about 1,000 and see if it breaks in.
The seat was a brick , so I gave it a while to see if it got better.
I think it was just after 600 miles , we were on a long HOG ride , and at the end of the ride , I had forgotten about the seat altogether.
Not that it was comfortable , I just didn't feel pain anymore , the seat had broken in and didn't notify me of it's status.
It was a truly impressive and strange thing.
If you like the look , give it a little time , it might be the best seat you ever rode with.
Mine was.

Keep us updated on this if you would. I am looking at either the tripper or the vintage solo for my bike. I am leaning towards the solo myself. I ride 44 miles each way to work. I want to not even think about my seat ever again.

Have the Mustang Vintage on my 2012C. Over 9000 miles on the seat now. Can ride all day no problems. Your @$$ will conform after racking up the miles. One of the best investments I've made for my ride. Gave me about 1/2" of lift from stocker.

I have the Mustang Fastback as well and I found it more comfortable than the stock seat right out of the box.

I got the Mustang Day Tripper Solo for my Sportster 72. Big improvement over stock seat that I even put a gel pad inside of. It took about 5 K miles to break in the Mustang seat. I also have a HD Sundowner deep bucket seat for 2 up riding. The HD Sundowner looks big but man it's comfy. If I could get that comfort in a solo seat with a low profile I'd be happy. Making my own spring seat now see how that works
