Only got 5,000 miles on my car tire
Only got 5,000 miles on my Pirelli p7 205/55/r17. Not sure if I overinflated. Been running around 38-40 psi and it's down to the wear bars. Should I try a different car tire and air pressure? It's on a crossbones and that was all one-up riding. Please help!

pressure
I run 28 PSI and am very happy at that pressure. There's a big difference in ride quality as you go lower in pressure.
Some that ride very aggressively in the twisties like to put higher pressure in their tires, but you will wear out the center of the tire quicker at higher pressures.
Is the center wore more than the edges? If so, it's because of too high pressure.
There are a lot of Goldwingers that would be very happy to get 5K on a CT. Some of them are more concerned with grip than mileage and buy very soft (and cheap) car tires that only last 2 to 3K.
It's all about what is important to you. I got nearly 20K on a Dunlop CT and I expect to get closer to 25K on my current Michelin. I like a soft, smooth ride and I can still outrun a lot of people with MT in the twisties.

Michelin
It's a 195 55 16. A 205 55 will also work, but I think 195 handles better.

mileage
If your primary concern is mileage, the Goodyear triple tread is the tire. You should get at least 30K on it.
I've never tried it, so I can't say how it handles.
To me, I want good handling and as long mileage as I can get, but I won't go for long mileage and hate the ride. If I can get 20K+ and a good ride, I'm a happy camper.
Michelin Alpin PA3 ZP makes me smile every day.
