I was quoted $800 for purchasing a powervision license and a dyno machine tune at the dealership. Is this a fair price?.Thanks.

 

 

The Power Vision license is $199 so $600 for the tune , A bit high but how is the tuners reputation ? If he spends a bit of time and gets it right it isnt to far off from what ive read

You don't make money off of licenses like you do selling a unit. The same work has to be put into the job to get it tuned correctly. There was a nice mark up for tuners built into the product. You had a chance to make so much selling, and so much with labor. Carpet baggers came through with dot com stores and ruined the MSRP of tuning products and established the new market price for tuning devices. The answer was to raise the labor rate.

 

Speaking as a customer, Stock or modified, a perfect tune is priceless.
