Florida Politics?

Florida Politics?
My wife and I are solid conservatives living in the People’s Socialist State of California.
We are getting fed up with California's overall costs, taxes, and politics, and are giving serious thought to fleeing to a more retirement and conservative friendly state. Yeah I know Florida gets hot and humid. But, we’ve pretty much narrowed it down to Florida. As Dickey once said, we will never again live North of interstate 10, and we like tropical environments within 45 minutes of the coast.
The tipping point recently are the asinine political decisions where California is putting illegal aliens above tax paying Citizens.
So, what do you Floridians think about the Florida politics? Will it stay red in the future? Does that state infringe much on your life? Does the state pass idiotic taxes?
Thanks...

We visited recently, and were reminded how many North-easterners have retired there. You’d think they would leave their liberal politics home, and lean more red to protect their retirement. But, I guess once a libtard always one.

I just bought a new construction home. My insurance is $863 per year $1,000 deductible and same deductible for hurricane.
$189,000 1500 square feet 3/3 and two car garage.
Im sure in California it would be double in price and insurance.
I don’t ride much in the summer during the day but spring fall and winter is nice.

Florida has to be at least 10 times better for conservatives then Cali. The political landscape has been changing over the years whether we like it or not. Some for the good but mostly for the bad. Add to that no state taxes and its a plus. My homeowners insurance just went down from 1600 to 1300 a year since I retired. Car insurance as well. Bike runs me about 200 a year for full coverage. Hurricanes vs earthquakes another consideration. Not sure where you are looking to settle but each area has its own ups and downs. Just like anywhere else. Im in Jacksonville for about 30 years now but I also like the SW area of Ocala, west of 75.

I'll let this thread stay in the Florida Crew as long as it does not become aggressive and overly political in which case I'll move it to the POD.
Please keep it nice
