I just can't decide who I despise more;

1. Lawyers
2. Used Car Salespersons
3. White Paper touting, spAmsoil jobbers

Maybe we need to start a Poll.

I think dealer should pay for damages. But I think this device is great for people that don't pay. The telephone company and the electric company cut your service. Why can't the car dealer do the same if you don't pay.

I think this device is a good idea, although any mechanically inclined person could bypass it. However, the device faulting is nowhere in the plan. Reguardless the installer did shoddy work and should pay for the damages, not the payments.

I know darn well, if I installed an item on somebodies car, and if failed (causing damage), I would surely be forced to pay for it.

But the way my luck runs, I couldn't collect if I was the victim. LOL

Seriously, If you still have this customers number, I'd recommend calling them and recommending some civil action (small claims court is inexpensive and painless). Of course the dealer will say no if you just go up there and ask him for money. But I truly believe that a Judge would see it differently. Imagine if that car was in a garage and lit the attached house on fire and killed three kids,.......

I know that buy here pay here lots install a device similar to lo-jack that lets them know where the car is at if need be (failure to pay) nobody knows that EVERY car has one when you buy from this used lots. It works wonderfull!!!!! The ones I know of does not disable the car just lets you know where it is at, it costs the dealer about 140.00 per unit but a 30% interest it is a very small investment to secure their unit..

Got a call the from the customer today the dealer agreed to pay for the damage if she agreed to put another unit in. She told him only if I install it so I did turns out the other one was wired wrong from the begining was supposed to have an inline fuse put in that comes with the kit to prevent this from happening, it was never installed. At least he covered the cost of repairs.

Everyone can get some sleep now

Seriously though, that's god news. The way it should be done, he was probably afraid of being put through the ringer for the faulty installation once they discovered it was his fault.
