Default Those Ol' Brokedown HD Blues

HD Rick's bike went into the HD shop last night due to oil leaking from around the stator wire grommet. I laughingly joked with him how we were neck and neck for the most shop time. I went out into the garage today and there was oil under my bike. Oil was leaking from around the stator wire grommet. Sound familiar? So now my bike is sitting next to his at Ocala HD.

Since we couldn't ride we ended up getting a little jam session going today, singing the No Bike Blues...... Guess we need a name for our band..... HD Rick and the Gator Slayers? Kinda catchy....

The "HD" in HD Rick in this instance would refer to "Heavy Drip"!!

On a serious note, I hope my bike is fixed before next week. They told Rick last night they had 2 stators in stock. Mike at Ocala HD told me today they had another bike in there as well, suspected of the same thing. If they have to order my part it will take them a week to get it!

That $ucks. If the dealer hasn't done so, I'd suggest you start calling other dealers in the region to see if they have any in stock. I'm sure that one of the Crew, looking for an excuse to ride, could pick it up for you over the weekend and get it to you.

Nobody want's too see a fellow member have a bike down during the Rally.

Got bike back today. They replaced stator, shift shaft seal and turn signal module. In the 7 months the RPM One extended warranty has been in effect I have claimed $1,606.54 worth of repairs, excluding tax. I paid just short of $1,200 for it. With just shy of 3 1/2 years left on the warranty I will come out ahead big time. With the RPM One there is no $50.00 deductible like the Harley plan, either.

Are you telling us to cure the leak in the seal for the stator wire through the case you replaced the entire stator?

There should be a way to reseal that "grommet" without having to put in a new stator, shouldn't' there?

I'd at least try to slip the grommet out the front of the case and attempt to silicone it back in hoping for a tight seal. Maybe?
