who was inspired to ride harleys from outlaw bikers?

Back when I was a kid my father used to ride for the local PD and would get to take his bike home at the end of his shift. I could hardly wait until I heard that engine and knew he was comming down the street and would be giving me a ride around the neighborhood on the back fender. No helmets back then and no political correct bullshit from the neighbors either. God I miss those days.
Great PIC abd story!!!!

Doesn't really matter who inspired someone to ride as long as they were lucky enough to be inspired to enjoy such a great lifestyle.
Remember the pioneer of Outlaw bikers was inspired by Motorcycle police.

Thanks,
I was lucky to find that picture in a box of stuff my mother was going to throw out after my father died.

I started racing/jumping bicycles. Graduated up through a dead Vespa, Honda Trail 90, Cushman, then discovered dirt again with a Bultaco 250. Eventually hit the street with...a Honda (cough) 500, traded for a basket BSA, became a Triumph mechanic, got into Harleys.
No outlaw influence, although did ride with some clubs back in the day. I just love bikes.

I guess there's lesson in there about when one of your parents pass away, get over to the house before the other starts throwing things away while still grieving.

I wasn't really inspired by "outlaw bikers", and I don't ride a H-D. I had dirt bikes at a very young age, and was introduced to British street bikes by the older brother of a friend. My friend's brother had a BSA and a couple of Triumphs, and he spoke in almost worshipful tones of the mysterious Norton Commando.
