Default Doo rags under helmet?

I read another post about doorags and I got to thinkin' (usually dangerous). Why do people wear a doorag under their helmets? Is there a practical purpose? Or, is it just a personal preference (fashion statement)?

I wear mine to help keep the sweat from the helmet lining.

I wear Under Armour, it is more comfortable and absorbs all the sweat. When I wear doorags I still get sweat dripping down my face, guess I'm a hot head

The inner lining of the ACC carbon fiber helmet is ichy to me, thats why I usually have a rag in there.

LOL

I wear them under my helmet. Keeps the sweat out of my face, I think it feels cooler too. Also keeps my almost shaved head warmer in the cold and the helmet doesn't get nasty so fast. Learned it from an old timer, he was right. He's been coast to coast and border to border many times and I tend to listen to folks like that, they usually know what they're talking about.

I get a severe case of helmet hair, plus it does a nice job of controlling moisture when my head leaks...

When I wear my DOT helmet I either wear a dew rag or a backwards baseball hat.

Somehow it stops the helmet from catching the wind and choking me to death.
