Thanks! I would sure want to stay out of some of them!

In California the cops don't seem to hassle Harley riders (and I ride all over CA). In fact, most of the East SF Bay Area moto cops have aftermarket exhausts on their police bikes as they feel "loud bikes save lives."

In contrast, if you ride like a hooligan through San Francisco with a Thunderheader you'll get your bike impounded. SF is pretty strict.

Years back I ran shot gun pipes on my shovel head, I drilled a hole in each pipe and put a small bolt as far inside as I could get one, when I was checked for baffles the flash light hits the bolt and stopped. I did get one ticket for loud pipes and deserve it, after that I got smart.

Yes the BCT Monster baffles would pass the flashlight or nightstick test. It looked like a washer on a small stem in the center of each pipe. Kind of like a gun site. Produced a great hot rod sound but it was very loud.

Thanks for all the replies so far!

In Wisconsin I have only seen them do a batton in the pipe once to check pipes and this State Patrol Cop was a buy the book guy(his own book),he even wanted the pipes to have a crossover. He was inspecting my bike,he told me he used to be a bike cop for the State and all Bikes he inspects should sound like the one he rode for the State.ONLY Problem was back when he rode ,Wisconsin used the Police Edition Kawasaki !

Never had a problem with loud pipes in Michigan. If you are not showing off they will leave you alone.

A couple of yrs. ago, Officer DAY (Va, state) told ME anything louder that stock
was against Va. state law. And if HE deamed it loud he could have it pulled in,
and I would be walking. This was on my 04 HEMI. I told him that my hemi was
not loud, and if he was to hear my Harley, NOW THAT IS LOUD! Officer DAY, in
Scott Co. VA. But of course we have all ran across ****** like LEO DAY. TN.Vol.
