Have a question. I recently bought an 07 Wide glide and had V&H big radius pipes put on. Dealership did the remap of the fuel injection and all is well. I am curious though, I would like to hear the pipes without the baffles in them. If I do this and like the result does the fuel injection have to be remapped again or should it be ok. This is my first bike and I am trying hard not to screw something up. So far so good. Thanks for your imput.
I don't think it has to be remapped but you will lose some bottom end regardless. As a side note, you may want to reconsider. You can always put the baffles back in but I have the big radius pipes and people don't like to ride beside me cause they are so loud. I can't imagine how loud they would be without the baffles.
I've got the baffles in mine and people tell me they are loud. However, if I'm not ON the throttle, it's not obnoxious and sounds pretty damn sweet in my opinion.
I agree, it is just the curiousity in me that is considering doing this. I think overall they are a great pipe when you are at idle they have a nice deep sound, you can leave the neighborhood without setting off car alarms, but when you get on it they definetly have some bark.
I have Big Radius pipes with no baffles and there not bad at all. A few weeks back I was riding down the road and softail rode up beside me, And he also had big radius pipes and when we hit the traffic light he asked when I was going to remove the baffles, And I told him they were removed. He said it was alot quieter than his bike.
Go back to the dealer and talk to the dyno man and then if you deceide, he can tell you what kind of map he did for yer bike. You may want tot check yer plugs and make sure they don't git white lookin after that..
And like somebody else said you will loose some bottom end if you take the baffles out. They EPA is going to make it mandatory in a few years that you can't take the baffles out on yer bike. I think that after a certain year you will not be able to change yer pipes. The noise factor will tell on certain years if you can get a inspection sticker or not. Watch <
You got to do some homework and figure out what you want, sound, performance or looks. Then you can look at the products that will give you that.
