Default Progressive 444 spring change

I was able to get a brand new set of Progressive 444's for a smokin' deal from a member here...big thanks to Gliden!!! But the only setback is that they are heavy duty springs. Does anyone have experience getting the HD springs swapped out with standard springs? I'm mainly looking at what the cost is. I've emailed Progressive, but since it's the weekend I doubt I'll get a quick response...figured I'd see if anyone here may shed some light. I'm 185 and the wife is 115...with about 50% 2-up, I'm thinking the HD springs may be too stiff.

I have a friend who had the same issue. He installed lighter springs and that did the trick w/ the rear but made the front too stiff. After adjusting the fork oil weight he got it dialed in nicely. I mention the front so you are aware you may need to fine tune to get the results you are after.
He got the new springs from progressive I believe.

For $36 they have the tool to swap springs (http://www.progressivesuspension.com...for-psi-shocks) then add the cost of lighter springs ($80ish bucks)...you're looking at around $120 - $150 to swap them out.

I was just on Progressive's site and their chat function's active so looks like you could go and ask some ?'s...

I have sent both 412's and 440's back for a spring swap, both too, and from heavy duty. It was always around 75 bucks.

Wait until you get them before you do anything. Besides the directions that's in the progressive box I stuffed another sheet of paper from progressive in the shipping box itself. Look for it.

That paper had the model number which said HD-xxxxc . I forget the numbers.
But I assumed the HD stood for type of spring. Heavy duty.
Plus being made for touring Flhx I also knew they knew what bike they were making them for and put HD ( heave duty) springs for an 800 lb bike...but I don't know for sure. Maybe HD stood for Harley Davidson???
Read up when you get them. I didn't open the manual or anything so I don't really know for sure. You should get them Wednesday. Later bud. And thanks again. Enjoy.
