Default Anyone done the 103 inch motor build on their 2007 bike?

What was the cost? Dyno numbers? How's the performance? Heat? What intake and exhaust did you go with? Would you do it again? Or just go for the 110?

Discuss...

Default RE: Anyone done the 103 inch motor build on their 2007 bike?

I recently finished a 103 on an 07 Ultra. I had HQ do the heads, bore the cylinders to 103, and they provided all the gaskets and pistons for the build. Doug recommended 10.5 comp and HQ 575 cams so I did that. Roughly 2200. Got a D&D 2-1 fatcat for a little over 500. Presently using a PCIII with a fuel map from PhilM and Dougs ignitons tables. Thinking of switching to DTT so havent dynoed but it is a beast. It will pull the front wheel off the ground just by burping the throttle in first gear and even in 4th it gets petty light. No heat, no pinging, no popping and a nice tan color on plugs. Only thinking of changing to DTT because of the always tuning advantage. I live in NC and ride some at sea level and some in our mnts at 6000. Dtt should correct for that after a little timeat either elevation. It should also be able to correct for other variableson the fly. People on the forum are having good results. Wonder if its not plasmas and computers and prices will drop soon as more get on the bandwagon.
Anway, I REALLY like the 103. A 107 is only slightly more expensive and the 110 considerably with the case split.
My opinion....

Have also done the 103 build with the following parts.

SERT
SE Roller Rockers
SE 257 cams
50 mm throttle body
K & N High Flow
Rinehart true duels

Have learned that the dyno program may not be accurate because set up is for 5 speed bikes. The 6 speed could through the numbers off slightly and numbers posted in sig may be slightly low. When new program is available will re-dyno to see if any change is noted.

Right now very happy with the way bike runs and pulls. Haven't had the opportunity to run against another bike for comparison.

Hope this helps.

Just fired my 103" build today, it is a monster ! No pinging, and very strong from 2200 rpmup.
https://www.hdforums.com/m_1510182/tm.htm
HD CNC Ported Heads
Jugs bored to 103"
HD 10.5:1 pistons
HD 50mm Throttle Body
Woods Performance TW-400-6 Cam (.650 lift, 244 duration)
SE A/C with Green Filter
PC III (will be switching to DTT as soon as weather allows riding to tune)
Rinehart True Duals (very LOUD with this build, have LSR Black Holes on order)

Cost was approx $3200 including all items listed above including gaskets, oil, etc.(labor at adealer would have drove this well over $4k).

And yes,I would do it again, there is no such thing as too much power!

Thanks for the replies men. In the past I have done the bling...and the exhaust.

This time I believe I'll go performance 1st.

I have an 07 Ultra with the 103", 251 cams, SERT, Hi-Flo Air Cleaner, and Rinehart True Duals. Ended up costing me 1450.00 including labor. Dealer gave me an 800.00 credit when I bought the bike. Used credit for cams, sert, air-cleaner. The 1450.00 was for Rineharts, some gaskets, and labor. They put compression relief valves on my heads to ease starting. I'm very happy with the pull all through the range. The Rineharts are very loud but I would not change anything with my build. Good luck with whatever you do.....Tim
