Default My toe shifter is flopping like a fish

So my toe shifter has been flopping around since i installed the extended lever. It rattled when I'm idling. I didn't notice it too much before but it's more pronounced now with the longer lever and longer/heavier shifter peg. I was at a dealer talking to a tech the other day and he said the shifter bushing needs to be replaced. Does this sound accurate, and if so, how difficult is it to replace?

I want to try to fix this myself.

I removed my heel shifter and its pretty noisy now. I doubt anything need to be replaced. Its just the weight.

The Tech is correct. I had the same issue on my 07 Ultra. It's a quick fix and buying the bushing at Harley is probably the least you'll ever spend at the stealership.

Yep wore out, you can also buy the bushings at most ace, or napa.
Easy fix.

Thanks fellas. Is it pretty easy to replace? Do I need a special tool to pull the bushing?

Pretty easy, just drive the old one out with a punch or use a vice, same with the new. I would not grease the shaft, that collects sand makes it wear faster, I use silicone spray every five k or when I think about it.

I see. Thanks! What do you think about some sort of dry-lube? I have some Remington Dri-Lube I use for my trigger components on rifles.

Check and make sure the lever is tight on the shaft first. I had a couple seasons it kept coming loose on the shaft, ended up the splines inside the lever wore down, and messed up the shaft a little where it seats down on. Replaced shaft with a SS grease-able one, (forget who from) and replaced the lever

The toe shifter itself is tight. That's the first think I checked. And the guys at the dealership checked everything for loosness and said it was all tight.
