Default Dunlop American Elite 180/55B-18 Coming!

Dear Sir,

Both wheel sizes on my 2011 Road Glide CVO are 18".
Will there ever be a 180/55B-18 size Dunlop American Elite rear tire for my bike?

Regards,
Dennis P.

Hi Dennis,

Yes, we are currently working through the different phases of design, mold procurement, etc for the 180/55B18 American Elite. If no delays, we are estimating availability late 2015 / early 2016.

Thank you for your interest in Dunlop tires .. Ride Safe!

Regards,

Dave Johnson

I think that with tires Dunlop makes for Harley there must be some sort of exclusive time limit before they can make a tire that is the same size for the aftermarket.

Regardless, this is good news for me and will allow me to outfit 180/55/18 tires that get better mileage aside from the over priced stock Harley tire. Thanks for the info.

True they are a great tire but they don't get near the mileage of an Elite 3. It all depends on your priorities. For those of us whom ride daily longevity is probably more important. I can't be changing my tire every 8 weeks. With that Cobra I would be.

Has anyone noticed if the weight rating is the same as OEM? The ones I saw that were out last year in that size didnt have a high enough weight rating on the rear tire.

This one has a load rating of 80H which is 992 lbs. Not enough, and not as much as the OEM HD tires for Agitators, which is only sold by HD.

Its the last tire on this page: http://www.dunlopmotorcycletires.com...merican-elite/
