2004 or 2007 RG
Hi all
Need some help or advise .. dont want to make the wrong decision ..
I am presently riding a Yam Road Star ... but will be changing to a Road Glide in a few days ..
I am having a few issues deciding between 2 bike ..
1- 2007 RG
2- 2004 RG with approx 8000miles on it and lots of chrome ,, bike is very well done ..
Are there any issues I should be aware of on the 2004?
Does the 96" and 6 speed make that much of a difference ?
Thanks for your help

I think you will be happier with a newer machine. You need to experience all theenjoyment of chroming it out yourself. I spent countless hours looking over what is out there and what theme I wanted. That is part of the fun and excitement of these things.
Good luck.

Good luck.
If the bikes are the same price or even fairly close I would go with the newer one. I ride a 2005 FLHPI at work everyday and my new Street Glide is sooo much better engine wise. Some people have had some issues but the vast majority of us that ride '07s love them and haven't had any trouble whatsoever. If the 2004 bike is significantly less expensive I would have a hard time deciding but if they are close price wise, it's a no brainer, get the newest you can for your money.

With regards to the 04 versus 07 question. I'm not a Harley veteran, but I bought my first in 04, it was an RKC, sold it due to technology / performance / engine noise / maybe I wasn't ready yet due to being a sportbike guy for 17 years. This time around I almost did the metric thing as I have a buddy like me that did the VTX1800 and tried like hell to convince me this time not to do the Harley. I love the looks and the sound of the RKC so much I decided to go ahead and get another RKC and just lower my expectations and learn to love it regardless. This was even before I found out about the new motor and tranny. Long story short, the 07 RKC is the bike I had hoped I'd be buying back in 04. I sold the 04 to my brother and when he rode the 07 he pretty much dog cussed me.
Nah, going to Nashville for the STT event Saturday and Sunday. I just rebuilt the motor in my racebike and I am hoping to break it in at the trackdays so it will be in great running order for the Wera race at Nashville the next weekend. I also hope to put a few laps on my Husky Supermoto and evaluate it as a back-up spare racebike. The rebuild is a first for me and I figure that having a spare bike ready to race will be a good thing just in case the need arises

I love my '04.....have 28K on the clock and lots of engine modifications, etc. The new '07's are OK, but throw a LOT more heat due to the EPA compliances demanded. I have some buds that are beginning to really feel the heat, and it costs some real dollars to cool it down.
The 6 speed tranny is a plus on the '07, but I'd like to hear what you are paying for both bikes.

Even the few guys like me that have had a problem or two love the bike and would not trade it for a 06 or below.
Regardless of what you hear, the 07 bikes ARE better bikes than those of past. If you look real hard you can find the list of improvements made...
Good luck!

If they are comperably priced, go for the 07.
If the 04 is priced significantly better, there is NOTHING wrong with the 04/05 model bikes.
It really depends on which one you like and how they are priced.
You probably can't go wrong either way.
