I've got a 97 FLH, which, I'm upgrading to the 2007 front brakes.
My question is what brake fluid was used from the factory in 07?
The cap says DOT 4, but I was of the impression that DOT 5 was stock from the factory.
Could someone let me know?
You will be able to tell the dot 5 over the dot 4. Dot 5 is purple in color vs dot 4 is yellow/brown. See what comes out of the calipers before you mount them.
Do you have the entire brake system off the 2007? Master cylinder and calipers?
Dot 4 started in 2005. I just replaced mine with a pair of 2014 Brembos. I pushed the piston all the way in to expel the excess dot 4, flushed them with denatured alcohol and blew them out with air. Mounted and bled them with dot 5. all is good. Mine is a 2002.
