Smile Battery question

Hey everyone, I have a 11' road glide custom and I am looking to upgrade the soundsystem. Do I or should I upgrade to a hi-capicity battery or will the oem battery do fine? I am running a new head unit and putting in an amp pushing no more than 300 watts. I found this place http://antigravitybatteries.com

any thoughts?

Tall, or long?

Huge either way....

My neighbor runs a big system on his '08, stock battery. The one that came when new....
It's almost 8 years old.

As long as you are not planning to play the stereo for extended periods with the motor off, or just idling, and as long you shut off the stereo before starting the bike you should be ok as long as your battery is healthy. Once you get the bike started it really just runs everything off the alternator. Otherwise if your alternator can't keep up, it would eventually drain the battery. So, as long as the alternator puts out enough power (DC Amps out of the regulator) you will be ok.

Simple math assuming 80% efficiency if the volume was cranked to the max 300 watts...the stereo would draw about 30AMPs...so you'll be ok unless you are running the air conditioning, all the lights, using the cigar lighter, using heated vests and gloves. Then you'll need a higher capacity alternator...ok...fine Stator..

If you use an efficient amp ie. Class D, the stock Harley electrical system will be fine.
