Default CFR muffler with no aftermarket header: Why?

So, I installed the CFR mufflers on my 2012 SG. It's a better sound from the Rinehart mufflers that I replaced. The sound is good but nothing to do flips over, with the stock head. I know, in order to really utilize the power/sound, one needs to invest in an aftermarket head pipe.

This is a personal question but I'm wondering, why would folks invest in the hight dollar amount for CFR's, let not do aftermarket headers? I'm seeing so many folks with only the muffler. For me, this is cheating yourself...

I agree. They sound sooooo much better with an aftermarket header. The Cat kills the sound of the cfr's.

I have dresser duals and cfr's, and I think they sound great but a little on the loud side if trying to listen to the radio. I also had the cfr's paired with fuel moto 2-1-2 headers and the sound was perfect imo, ran good too. Just didn't like the stock header look, which is why they are on the shelf.

not all riders are knowledgeable about how or why a motor works better...or worse.
and sound and power do not have a direct correlation

chrome geegaws of all types are marketed at Harley riders especially.

when it comes down to it moving air into the motor, adding gas, squeezing then controlling a burn, and expelling the gasses quickly is what it is about.

so you work to remove the bottlenecks to flow- which in most cases are the intake/filter and the cat in the header.

All I know is, I'm working on my finances now to get my head pipe and tuner.
I just bought the CFR's last week and also bought the 14" Yaffe bagger monkey bar.

I like my CFR but not thrilled, yet. I'm just gonna go all in and get what I want and be done with it. I have a few rides coming up in October and early November (I live in the South...ha ha) and want to be prepared.

Please, don't let my woman know how much I'm paying. I'm supposed to be saving for the ring...lol...

I can see that people who live in California don't change their harder pipes, if you live in one
of the other 49 states it is a no brainer. My Son's 2012 Road Glide had a de-catted header
pipe on two months after he got it, and that is his only modification, period.
