Default Cheap tires on a 05 Road King Custom!

Is it a sin to put cheap non USA made tires on a 05 road king custom? Has any one done this, if so, what brand do you recommend? $400 + for a set of USA/Harley Dunlap made tires just is to much money, even if I take tires off the bike and take to them.
thanks,
stoney

You save $30 a tire from my stock Dunlop to a Shinko.

I don't know anything about Shinko, so I stick with the Dunlops, and they are made in USA.

If you want a economical tire that are getting good reviews, look into the Shinko 777 H.D. tires. Check out Jake Wilson for some good prices on tires.

thanks xcbullet, Ron750, Toofat, Grizz02. I will try to buy USA! Motion Pro has new 16" tire spoons, maybe I can save money by mounting the tires myself. The Shinko 777 H.D. tires look kinda nice too.

Go to this link and you will find Dunlop tires to fit your bike for about $300 total. Shipping is about $5 a tire I believe and Dennis Kirk is an excellent company. Don't mess with spoons unless you want to damage your wheel. The new tires are stiff as hell and its much better to use a tire machine. Use the dyna beads in the tire for balancing, eliminates external weights that way. Any independent bike shop can mount tires, just look around as some have better prices than others.

I have run several sets of shinko 777's on my 07 roadglide,I really like this tire as it sticks to the road and is great in the rain the only problem is the rear wears out really fast,so I am running a dunlop american elite on the back now hoping to get a little more mileage this round but I still have the shinko on the front, the shinko cups easy if you let the air pressure get low so check pressure regularly.

I just changed my front with a Dunlap. Spoons work OK but you do need to get the tire protected also. I brake the seal with a 2x4 cut at angle. Jack up truck bumper put rim on 4x4s then place widge board in bead, release jack. I have commander 2 in back. I then run ride on for balance.

PS dish soap helps but just as much as needed.

We are on an International site here, with a worldwide population of members. Having owned Harleys for over 40 years and living overseas I have never bought US made replacements, simply because I have access to far more suitable alternatives for my local conditions. Is that a sin? Of course not! I never use 'cheap' tyres, of any origin.
