Default Any reason to EVER turn EITMS OFF?

Before I left the dealership with my new SG, my salesman, of course, went over a few things. One of the cool and new (to me) things was the EITMS--my older RK's and softails never had this, and although i'm inclined to split traffic instead of letting my engine roast, it was nice to hear that there was this protection available for my new bike. The salesman stated that while Harley calls it a "comfort" feature to avoid cooking the rider/passengers legs, many believe that it goes a long way toward protecting the engine during slow going on hot days.

My question is, why would anyone ever turn this feature off? Any downsides?

I run with mine turned off. No issues even in 115° Phoenix heat. Downside being a hesitation and sluggish running bike from idle at a stop with it engaged. I have the heat shields on the mid frame. Keeps heat off my legs real good

Oh, so even during normal operation there is a detectable sluggishness when taking off? Does this go away with tuning/exhaust, or is it just something to live with if the EITMS is engaged? Thanks!

I also didn't like the sluggishness and sound off the line when it is engaged. I turned mine off also.

Darn. Ok. I'll turn mine off and see what the difference is. It's good to know I can easily turn it back on if needed.

I leave mine on all the time....the "cooling" feature does work.

The "sluggishness" described above is when the system in actively engaged.

Until certain parameters are met, the system will not engage and no sluggishness will be noted. A quick turn of the throttle will disengage the system and bring the rear cylinder back on line if the system did activate.

Most riders leave the system "on" meaning it's available if needed. Until it's needed, one may never know it's even there.

I always leave mine on. If it has cut out the back cylinder at a stop, a slight throttle twist reactivates both cylinders immediately.

Since I switched to Formula+, I rarely even get compensator knock when activiated.

I can definitely tell when EITMS engages. It sounds weird...kind of like an air pump. But, I leave it enabled. It never activates I have the Wards fans running.
