Plantars wart-Painful. Dragging your feet on the expressway would NOT help this at all.[&:]

I spent 3 years limping around with either sore heels or sore arches. Pins and needles feeling in the arches when I stood up. Finally went to a foot DR. He wrapped my feet in a particular way to take the stress off the ligaments in the arch.....never felt so good. I sort of learned to wrap my feet myself, and eventually with the aid of arch supports the pain went away. Seems to me that we probably never give the foot ligaments a chance to heal because we are on our feet all the time, so once inflammed, they stay that way. This medical tape wrap was wonderful. Ask your doctor.

I am on my feet all day at work and have been for years, on very very hard floors. This time last year i could barely walk without severe amounts of pain in my heels and arches.

i was going to do the inserts thing and then someone suggested i try a pair of Aetrex sneakers. i bought a pair (x801) and they made all the pain go away. i think i even got them on ebay, after seeing them at the foot solutions store for $135....paid $85 on ebay.

i am now on my 2nd pair and will definitely be buying more of them.

Man, I am so glad I started this post. I figured I was the only biker with this. I have also found it helpful to put my right foot up on my hiway peg's but I put the ball of my upper foot on the peg and then stretch my heel downward. Really helps stretch out the Plantar Ligament. Feels good!

I also found that when I do a lot of city riding it helps to put the middle of my right foot on the brake pedal instead of the toes or upper part of foot. Doesn't seem to pull.

Ice helps tons!!!!!!!!!Now if I could figure out a way to ice my heel and ride on the interstate at the same time.[sm=confused06.gif]

Went to my regular Dr yesterday for my annual physical.........(turn and cough please...And you know the other one........) anyway- I told him about my foot acting up again. No X-ray. Just gave me a perscription for Mobic and a sheet of paper showing stretches to do. Said this time of year they see A LOT of this due to people becoming more active in the Spring. I was a little upset that he didn't seem to care much more then that. Even researching on the net most people find comfortable shoes, try over the counter inserts (custom inserts from foot Dr. if nothing else works) and everyone agrees on ICE, ICE and more ICE.

Never ceases to amaze me the information I've gotten on this website. I also have severe heel pain on my left foot and to complicate matters, my right knee is screwed to a fair-the-well because I dropped a 750lb Harley on it a few years ago...it's never quite been the same - go figure. Heh, heh! I've had the cortizone shots the last time it got really bad, however, I've heard mixed results on the surgery and am not planning to go that route. One word of warning about Ibuprofen, I just had a very bad bout of Diverticulitus that resulted in a bowel perforation causing peritinitus - damn near killed me. My Gastrointerologist told me 99% of the Diverticulitus he sees is caused by Ibuprofen use, not seeds or nuts. I was taking 3 - 4 800mg (RX strength) Ibuprophen a day - way too much. I've stopped taking it completely because I do not want a repeat of this last episode. I'll think about you guys tonight while I've got my heeliced down, come to think about it I may take some ice internally with some medicinal Scotch.

Keep the rubber side down.

I have Plantar Fasciitis (kinda like heel spur) but it is caused by the over straining of your ligament on the bottom of your foot. Makes your heel hurt like Hell sometimes.

Any way. Was wondering if any others out there have this and what you do to help with the pain besides popping Ibuprofen and stretching out your heel a lot.
Yup had the pain in both heels. My arches had fallen. I bought a set of supports from a Orthapedic salesman at a gun show. Pain went away after I got used to the inserts. Now I won't leave home without them.
So I should visit the orthapedic specialist before my next trip to the rifle range?? I'm confused??![8D]

Bucs,
Have you cured the PF yet? I had it real bad this past fall and winter from overuse (running, marching, etc.)

It is a horrible condition that many regular MDs don't take seriously. I've achieved a lot of success through ion tophorysis. Basically they use a steroid cream and an electrical current to draw the medication through your flesh to the site of the pain. Works very well. Also, to prevent future occurences, stretch, stretch, stretch. Stretch your calves 30 seconds each several times a day. Many of my buds also had this problem... many used cortizone shots to help, but those may not last. I used to run all the time (2 Boston Marathons, 10Ks, 5Ks, etc.) but PF killed my running. I'm back to a little running now, but I have a long way to go and may not get back to where I was.

I'll just use that time to do more riding!
