Only if you exceed minimum clearance for the belt. Not only does it move when the bike is rolled backwards. It moves when decelerating also.

Also, a 140 from one manufacturer may be wider of slimmer than another. By as much as 10MM.

Some can & some can't. I have run several 140's from different manufactures and ran into one that rubbed. But it rubbed on one of the inside fender bolts. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...tire-rubs.html

So the metzeler 888 mu85 would fit without trimming the belt guard or a spacer?

You don't trim , it's removal of the rubber flap by drilling out three rivets. The flap is for stones so if you do dirt roads u might not want to remove if not you won't miss it.

How much weight you think is placed on a rear tire on a loaded touring bike, with 2 people with a combined weight of say 425 lbs? I think you would be surprised even shocked. Swore I was going to do an axle weigh, but never got around to it.

On my 02 rkc a 140 would have not fit,too close to the belt. I ran Metzlers 888 for over 40,000 miles without a problem. I would get around 10,000 miles out of them, but I am very **** about tires.

Can't find any specs on the tire width. I have the 880 mu85 on mine, I did trim the flap on the guard. Took all of 10 minutes and has 1/8"-3/16" belt clearance.

So I went with a Dunlop 402 mu85. Hopefully it'll fit. I'll let you all know the outcome
