I have one of these on the floor of my garage all the time w/a piece of plastic on the mat for kickstand as the stand chews up the rubber. The glide is always on the "smart tender" whenever it is parked in the garage. The only thing that I do different is cover it up in the winter. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Then if your leaving the battery in the bike still hooked up during storage put the float charger on the battery till it shows fully charged and charger has gone to float mode & cover the bike if thats what you do.
Remove the charger soon after that or a max of 24hrs so that way your starting off season storage with a fully charged battery.
Then after that put the float charger on the battery 1x every 1.5-2wks till it shows fully charged and charger has gone to float mode and remove it shortly after that within 24hrs max to avoid any premature damage to the battery due to possibly over charging it.
Have never heard or read this anywhere before. Anywhere.
The point of a 'float' charger is to do this for you.

You could have read it here a few times in the past. "Float" charger goes crazy and just charges the thing into oblivion over a winter. Doesn't happen a lot, but it has happened - on the internet anyway
The only precaution I would add is to consider the location the bike will be stored. If mice can access the area, they will setup a "nest" under the bike's cover. Their urine and feces will be harmful to the metal and fabric. They can also chew through wires.
You may also want to put steel wool in the exhaust pipes so little critters don't crawl in. Don't use fabric, they will chew it and use it for their "nest".
I did read someone mentioning this but I will reiterate. Store the bike with a full tank of gas. Meaning little to no air in the tank. It is the moisture in the air that condenses and gets into the gasoline.
The bike is like a bear. Don't wake it up until spring.
