Default Gas smell after riding, 2016 Road King

When I return to my garage after a ride and park my 2016 Road King I go in the house to change, etc. If I return to the garage within about an hour, I get a faint smell of gas. If I open up the garage and it clears out, it is the end of the problem and no gas smell in the garage after that initial occurrence, until the next time I ride.

Normal? O-ring issue? any ideas? Thanks in advance. just coming up on 1000 service and want to cover everything, but don't want to invent problems.

Normal

They all do that; I'm not kidding. Nothing wrong with the bike. The fumes are coming out of the tank vent because the engine is hot and the bike is parked. Just don't close the garage door right away.

^^ what he said. The motor is hot and the fuel tank is right over it. It's just the gas cap venting. If you get them really hot you will smell oil from the crankcase venting as well. It stops when the bike cools off.

The trick to not getting the smell is either park the bike with a full gas tank or by opening the gas cap for a second after you shut her down to release the pressure.

Just light a match...it'll clear the air.

Stop going to Taco Bell as the last stop before going home?

Yeah that works. Just make sure it is parked next to your Pinto wagon when you strike the match!

I have never noticed this problem with my bikes? Interesting.

No worries as stated above. I leave garage door open for a bit and no issues. Ride on

A favorite memory of my childhood was the smell of hot oil and gasoline as my father's Duo Glide cooled down. If my modern day Harley didn't give me a little of that smell, I'd take it back for warranty work.
