Default Flush Mount Gas Cap and Fuel Gauge Installation

Am thinking about adding these in black this winter....love the way they look on a black tank. In looking at the instructions on Harley's website - kind of looks a bit intimidating. Has anyone had experience actually doing this? Is it something to mess with or leave to indy mech?

tnx

I don't have experience on the install, but just a comment on the fuel gauge. I have the non-flush version on my King (I still like the old-school look) and the LEDs gives a nice quick visual on your gas. The 6 LEDs corresponds well to the amount of gas in the tank on mine. The last gallon or so, all 6 LEDs light up and disappear slowly with the gas. Kind of a nice count down feature to me.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with ten being the most difficult, the installation process is about a two and should take you no more than ten to fifteen minutes to swap them out!

I want to change mine from chrome with the red LEDs to these because the rest of my dash/radio lights are blue. They do look nice.

I have read that the red is hard to see in daylight ... I have the blue and it could be brighter for daytime but for the most part I can see it. I got the Dakota speedo that matches the blue nicely also. Timm

yeah, the red are hard to see in daylight. but, it only takes a second to put your hand over the led to shield it from the sun.

also, i mostly use the odometer instead to gauge when to get gas. 200 miles and i'm looking for a pump.
