Strapping down to a trailer, what's best?

I use soft ties around the risers, not the bars. Front wheel in a wheel chock with a short strap around the wheel to keep it snug in the chock. 2 straps on the rear just to keep it from bouncing around.
I've started using two straps on the risers. I hit a rain filled pot hole a couple of years ago and the trailer bounced really high and hard. One of the straps snapped in half. If I had only one strap the bike would have ended up on it's side.
I'm seriously considering a biker bar. I just have to confirm that I can mount it without affecting the frame covers that I have on the bike.

I use some special straps for motorcycle "Keeper 05723 1 1/2" by 8' Heavy-Duty Motorcycle and ATV Tie Down, Pack of 2" and (4) Soft Loops Tie-Down Straps.
I tie to the handlebars and the rear luggage rack with just enough tension to keep it from moving.
The bikes are in Condor's and are solid as a rock. Been to Yellowstone, Smokies and Colorado without any issue.
