Everyone badmouths certain years, but you'll notice that the people who have a bike all love their year.

I have an '03, with a stage one, and the SE Hydraulic Tensioner and Oil pressure pump upgrade. I love my bike, and have no plans to get a newer bike.

Don't be averse to looking at older, low mileage models other than the Street Glide. The Street Glides are the hot bike, and you're not going to get a hot deal. You might want a classic or standard Electraglide, and modify it.

 

Me, I'd stay with 2008 or newer if I couldn't get onto a 2009. 2008 added the ABS and the six gallon tank, IIRC.
