Try paying $300 just for the tire cause you picked up a big *** lag bolt with the the tire going flat as you pull in the parking lot while taking the bike in for some trivial warranty work. Made my friggen day........

Yeh, I know how you feel. Tire found this before I had 200 miles on my new to me Road King with brand new tires.

Off original topic...but that's why I got the tire and wheel coverage. It was under $400 for 6 years when I bought the bike. I figure the nail I picked up this summer paid for the coverage. Now anything else over the next few years will be covered for just the $50 deductible.

To OP...seems surprising that your local dealer won't match the other price. I'd always prefer to buy local as that's where I want to get service done. But it's certainly not worth $2K to buy local.

With the Rinehart slip ons added into the equation (at what my cost would be), I'm actually $3500 and change better off going with the dealership 50 miles away. It actually pissed me off so much I'm not even giving them the opportunity. We've bought 4 bikes from our local dealer over the past few years. Time for a change. May even take my service work away as well.

I would at least let the local dealer know they lost a current customer and all future sales.

They'll be calling me in a week or so to check in. I have no doubt. Our local dealer has outstanding customer service, without question but also is well known they don't negotiate. They still sell a ton of bikes so I guess they don't need to. Really sucks to have a dealership only 6 miles away and to have to go elsewhere.

I knew the pricing would vary, but can't believe how much. My local dealer is the priciest and their OTD is $2800 more than the best price...and that's BEFORE the fact that the best price includes $700 in accessories installed.

Just WOW....

I was in the car business many years ago. You never can tell how far you can get them down, but figure out which one you want, and using the pricing information you already have, pick your number. Then go to that dealer and make the offer. Stand firm. The later in the month the better. There are a lot of bikes for sale and some dealers are still sitting on 2016’s so if they don’t think you will come up, they will have to make a decision on whether they sell it to you. Be prepared, be patient. You will be surprised what you can do

Excellent customer service, good experienced mechanics, sales staff, parts people come at a price.
To keep good people you need to pay good people.
We all want a good fair price. I am willing to pay a little more for the better experience.
Like what was mentioned, tell them your findings. Don't just leave pissed off.
Good luck and enjoy your new scoot.

Agreed and I appreciate all of the above qualities. I don't mind paying more, but we're not talking a few hundred or a thousand more which I'd be more ok with. I'm over it, and not going to hold a grudge, I guess it just feels insulting in the moment.

There is a reason why some people call it a Stealership. "Your price may vary"
