Default Cant get over how much dealer OTD prices vary

Made the mistake of test driving a 2018 Road King two days ago. So here we are...

Been talking with 3 different dealers. The one 2 hrs away has the color I want with the ABS and security, my local dealer and one an hour away can get the one I want.

I knew the pricing would vary, but can't believe how much. My local dealer is the priciest and their OTD is $2800 more than the best price...and that's BEFORE the fact that the best price includes $700 in accessories installed.

Just WOW....

If you go to www.seedealercost.com you'll see the Harley touring bikes have around a $5,000 difference between dealer cost and MSRP. Plus the dealer can charge anything they want for a dealer prep and admin fee. Those aren't Harley fees.

Yes and I have no issues with them making a decent profit. That's what they're in business for. It's just so insulting to have your local dealer try to screw you so blatantly....I would gladly take my business there, even if we were talking a couple hundred more, but they are making it a no brainer.

Paying $13 for a black filter and $7 for a spark plug is enough to get me hot. lol Cant even imagine dealing with these characters for a new bike purchase.

Make sure you are comparing Apples to Apples. One dealer may be quoting price without taxes and the other with taxes. Out the door in Idaho is "always' more than out the door in Montana due to no sales tax in Montana. But you pay it when you bring it back to Idaho and register it.

Maybe your local dealer just don't like you. Or he may be like other dealers and thinks that he's the only option you have.

Understood. All 3 quotes included all dealer fees/freight, tax title and registration. My local dealer actually told me that they would do me a favor and not change me the "$400 delivery fee" to get it from the other dealer. Yeah, ok....
