Transfer Truck Stopped - I didn't -Need Fender
Well in downtown Atlanta traffic today running about 60 I rear end a transfer truck. He came to one of those slidding stops. I was about 60 - 70 feet back and stopped about 6 inches to late. A transfer truck behind me just like to have made a double stuff oreo out of my butt betweenthe two trucks. It was real close to being REAL BAD. I looked for a way outbut there was traffic every where so I had no where to go. Tried to get her stopped but it just would not do it. The fender pinched the tire I had to get off and beat it out before I could move.
So now I am in need of a black pearl fender and clean boxers!

RE: Transfer Truck Stopped - I didn't -Need Fender
Yea I had a good gap but the factory tires don't do much with stopping. The slide pretty quick I was easy on the brakes to begin with to avoid the slide the began to run out of room. Couldn't change lanes because of all of the traffic my second thought was to lay it down and slide up under the truck in frontto protect my self from the truck behind me by then I was out of room. I hit the interstate bar on the trailer. The guy did not even know it, he took right off my fender was crushed into the tire, I am suprised it did not pop the tire. I got off and squeezed the sides until enough pressure was relieved and I could limp off of the road. At that point I beat the fender off of the tire as to give a little air gap and rode home to clean my boxers out.
Everyone blames a rear end crash on following to close and I agree if I had been 200 feet back there would have been no accident. However in rush hour traffic in Atlanta you rarely see a 20 feet gap. I had a nice gap and was protecting myself the best I could. I typically don't ride in Atlanta traffic but was caught in it yesterday and paid the price. It could have been alot worse. I could have been in the hospital or dead. I had an angel riding with me and stopping the truck behind me no doubt. I was headed for serious trouble if that truck had not stopped.
