Default Keep blowing headlight fuse

I知 an above average mechanic, but a terrible electrician. I keep blowing my headlamp fuse on my 12 FLHR. I have a truck light phase 6 and a couple of the daymaker aux lights. Nothing has changed on that end of the bike for about a year now. Everything was fine for that year.

About a month ago I started crawling down the worm hole on installing a street glide rear facia to my bike. I get the Tri bar light wired into my brake light harness and all of a sudden I知 blowing headlight fuses. From what I can tell according to the owners manual these two series of whites are on different circuits. All turn signals and brake lights work fine while the headlights are out. The bike has an atm-15 fuse there. I put a 20 there and it blew right as I turned on the ignition. I have a 30 there now and it痴 holding on. I don稚 want to be burning up wires internally, I know the fuse is a fail safe and I知 afraid the larger fuse is helping bypass that.

You should not be doing electrical work.

So you changed something, and it starts blowing fuses.

If the tri bar light is sold for this purpose and not something you cobbled together, than I would say it is not wired correctly. Remove it. When you remove it you may see what you did wrong.

You changed something and then it started blowing fuses. So typically whatever you changed is the problem, either the item or the installation.

Fuse blows once, replace with the same fuse. But if it keeps blowing, something wrong.

Thanks for the help guys. Removed the CD Tribar. Seems to be a problem with the light. I'll call CD on it later today and get their help. All works correctly now that it's gone.

You could always replace the fuse with a nail..

Unless the light bar drew to much power, I am going to say it what was the installation that was the issue.

You blow a fuse and replace it - once. If it blows again, then it’s time to t-shoot why. Safety devices engineered to keep you from burning up wiring and having a really bad day.

Keep us posted.
