Default Alarm keeps going off!

I have a 2007 CVO Road King. For about 2 weeks the alarm has been "whistling" a couple of times every time I go to ride it. Now, for the past 2 days the alarm has been going off for approximately 30 seconds and it takes several tries to get the bike started. I've had the bike for 4 months. The original owner kept a key fob in the saddle bag, so I have just left it there. The fob has no buttons. This morning I was going to ride it to work when it started going off again. I just drove my truck to work. Do I need to take the fob and walk some distance away from the bike for awhile? Is the battery bad or weak in the key fob? I also tried the other fob being near the bike with same result. However, I didn't take the fob that was in the saddle bag away from the bike.

I'm replying to my own thread. I found that leaving the key fob with the bike at all times pulls the key fob battery down because it's constantly communicating with the armed system. New key fob battery... no more problems.

Correct you need to store the fob away from the bike. Also change the security pin to something that you can remember incase you lose your fob or it stops working.

Thumbs up

Well done! It always seemed silly to me to keep the fob in range of the bike - just defeats the object of the security system.....

now that you've got that figured out, have you changed your security pin yet? and have you practiced using it so that if/when you are stranded on the road you know how to use it?

i highly recommend you get familiar with it, otherwise, we'll be seeing a post 'harley security system sucks!' coming from you in the near future.

Help. I just bought a 2001 Harley Electra Glide Ultra Custom trike. It came with two key fobs and two additional fobs without batteries in them. The previous owner kept all of the fobs in the small bags on the windshield. I moved the fobs to my garage and yesterday I went out (without the fob) and moved the bike. The alarm went off. It finally stopped but now, even with the fob, I can't turn the switch on without the alarm going off and I can't start the bike. I called the previous owner and asked him for the security code and he says he does not know it. How can I turn the bike on without setting off the bike? If I could turn it on, I could retrieve the code (I believe from watching a YouTube video)
