I saw the new Mutazu mk2 mufflers and wondered if anyone has tried them.
the older megaphone type had loads of torque loss but these new ones look a better design (slimmer baffles).
i have V&H hi-outputs at the moment and love the sound but torque is hopeless and after 6 years they have begun to fall apart (chrome peeling etc).
For $250 i thought i might try a set of these new Mutazu mufflers.....
PS - i know “you get what you pay for”,
I've done a search in the Touring forum for them and found nothing, so it doesn't look as if there is much experience of them yet. The very name 'megaphone' is enough to put me off!

What puts me off more than megaphone is knock-offs.
Mutazu..... And others have been making CFR knockoffs for years. Because the original CFR's sound awesome. Even if they are ridiculously overpriced. Most of what I've read concerning the megaphone style cheap mufflers is the packing burns out in less than a year and they loose their distinct megaphone sound. There's a couple guys who posted up about repacking them with good results. But they were older posts, and this is allegedly a "new design". Hey, maybe these are better and will last????
yes, and i paid £700 for my V&H hi outputs and the quality is rubbish so i,m willing to try cheap knockoffs - cant be any worse.....
Replacement silencers/mufflers are a challenge! They also seem to represent a cultural difference between the two sides of the Atlantic. I settled some years ago on a Supertrapp 2-into-1, with their stackable baffles, to get away from the loud shouty stuff. It has held up well so far.

What you wrote doesn't excuse the fact that knock-offs are just cheap imitations of an genuine product and this was my point. I had chrome flaking issues on the tips of my CFRs years ago (they were fixed by the mfg) but I wouldn't have installed chinese junk to replace them, even they were given to me.
