What we know is that you live in New York, you don't like apes and you have a Road Glide. Or is that a Special?

There are people that don't like apes because they never tried them and those that remain clueless. Sorry, same people types. Let us know when you are ready for reasonable recommendations.

Go back to the dealer, they have demo seats and bars you can use to "mock-up" a ride/comfort level. Once you get a feel for what works (e.g. style & height), start shopping around. Good places to look include LA Choppers, Hill Country Customs, Eastern Performance & Road 6 Customs (all have great bar selection). Good luck!

Okay then, look at wild ones. They have a great selection of bars with dimensions of each.

He doesn't like apes - which part of that did you miss?!

goodym8, take yourself along to your local Harley dealer, who may/should have a display of bars you can play with, if only to get some ideas to work with. Also take a look around the showroom at the bikes on display. Only you can make yourself comfortable! Too many options out there for any one of us to make a specific recommendation.

In the meantime however, your bars are adjustable and can be raised by rotating them in their clamps. It may be worth trying that as a first step, to see if you already have the solution in front of you!

Just rotating your current bars can achieve that - well worth trying! It worked for me on my Glide.....

+1

As mentioned, really soooo many choices and variables in any given bar line. I am a big Carlini fan and while I found 14" Gangster Apes to be perfect for me (very comfortable and looked great on the RK), they make shorter bars with differing angles. Factory47 makes a 10" if you like that look. You can spend a lot or very little and go for a specific look or stay stock, etc. The dealer is a good idea if you don't mind being in a dealership.

there is a pin in the riser clamp on the bottom half that can be pulled to give you more rotation. Also, since you have a 17 , you will need buy 1 1/4” bars to fit the clamps, or bars and a new clamp.

I rotated mine at first but went with H-D apes for road glide, but I like apes. You can also look for a set from a RGU, I believe the are a little taller.
