Thanks everyone, guess I was just being paranoid about leaving it in the air.

Pick up a dolly that allows you to move the bike around the garage. I use mine when I'm working on the bike, but it would also work well for winter storage.

The jack you are using makes a big difference. Most jacks will hold your cycle as you work on them. But if you walk away for a few hours it may loose pressure and lower your cycle. It may come down to the ground. At that point your cycle may be tilting to one side or the other and tip over. Most motorcycle jacks (even cheep ones) have locks. Lock it to make sure it won't dip and drop.

My Softail sat on a harbo freight jack that kicked in place for 8 months while I rebuilt the entire thing. Never an issue. If it doesn’t have a manual lock for it to sit on if worry just being held up by the hydraulic piston but as long as it has some kind of safety latch it’s fine. No real difference than putting a car on jack stands.

Every lift/jack I have seen has a lock to prevent it from seeping down. If you have that engaged , bike strap as it should be and in a place no one is going to mess with it. Should be fine for years. I use to store my touring bike on a Jack so I could slide it over out of the way.

I "store" my Harleys on J&S jacks (summer storage in Florida home, winter storage in NJ home), in a (more or less) climate controlled garage, with a battery tender 24/7, no problems whatsoever, and if we get a good weather day or two, the bike(s) come off and go for a ride. Same with the sportbikes, but they go on "paddock" stands with a tender, and get ridden off season when weather permits.

THAT is the deal.
I have a K&L Dolly and I love it.
Lift your bike with any jack, and set it on the dolly.
Ultra secure, easy to roll around, work on, or just admire your bike.
Crank your bike, even climb up on it.
It's the ultimate.

I was hoping for at least one day of "Indian Summer" but no luck. The temps dropped along with some snow. So today is the official "put the ride to bed day".......I'll clean the wheels, stabilize the fuel, clean the underside, wax the paint and then put it's breathable nylon cover over it for the winter........oh, and raise it up on my J&S Jack as I always do winter and summer. It's a little depressing to put it away, but the "unwrapping" in early Spring is like a birthday and Christmas all rolled into one!

Might want to put something under the front tire. I pulled both rear shocks off my bike and the front end started to tip forward.
