I have owned bikes with both types of fairings. I think the frame mount handles buffeting a bit better, but I like the looks of the batwing fairing a lot more than the shark nose. For me the difference in handling isn't worth the tradeoff for the look I wanted. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I like both... I was lucky and test rode both two up on a windy day.
Road Glide hands down handles better in bad weather, also easier to maneuver two up at parking lot speeds.
The Road Glide is no doubt a great looking bike but seriously of all the Glides nothing is as sweet looking as a Street Glide.
I'm getting older and more concerned with comfort so I would sacrifice the stunning looks of the SG and go with the RG and rack up some miles.
With all that said I went with a King because the wind shield keeps the front end light and I can strip the bike down in a couple minutes and have a nice clean looking bagger.

I thought RGs looked weird and liked looks of SG. Had RK for 14 yrs. Test rode M8, had to trade up. Realized “everybody and their brother” had a SG, so I knew I would not get that. So it was RG or RK. Never had fairing before, so got RG and loving it. Now, to me, skarks look great and bats look dumb... go figure.
