Just went through this deal myself. After two ultra limiteds, I really wanted to try a RG. Love the look of the shark nose fairing. In the end, I preferred the batwing due to the proximity of the fairing and felt better protected from the elements. Recognize your needs/want in a bike and ride what's best for you.

That was funny right there!! BLACK BMW's to take it one step further.

I've had both, I think if you are a bigger guy you'll like the Road Glide better, ride both though and see what you think. I will say if you like riding at high speed, like 85+ mph, the Road Glide really outshines the batwing there, it handles much better, the street glide feels like a smaller machine than the road glide though, since the fairing is much smaller physically. The other thing Ill say, if you are buying a street glide, the short windshield is a joke, its just dumb to have on a bat wing fairing, the bat wing is a much more enjoyable experience with a taller windshield.

Ideally, if you can afford it, rent both and spend 2-3 hours on each.

The Road glide is nice too but those guys are snobs.
I almost said dicks but that’s not nice. Buy what makes you happy.
Yeah a helmet makes a huge difference! I used to ride with cheap helmets and the the first time I took a decent one for a spin I couldn't believe the difference. I have a Simpson Outlaw bandit now though because the Shark Fairing makes such a big air pocket it doesn't seem to matter what helmet I wear so I'm rockin a cool lookin one for now haha.

It's function over form. The bar mounted is a quarter sheet of plywood bucking the wind. For all its ugliness the frame mounted cuts the air better. I'm not an engineer, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express sometime in the last year.

I thought about this for a while myself. I wrote down what I wanted out of a bike and what type of riding I would do. I wanted comfort, 2 up riding capable, good for long and short trips and easily customizable. I also realized that for the most part 85% (along with most of the world no matter what you may hear around this place) will be 100 miles or less trips. ........So I got a Road King. It's a blank slate, same frame as the other touring models and no fairing blocking my view. I am one of those guys that enjoys music while riding so I added speakers and a small amp. Perfect all around bike for me.

Plus its the best looking bike out of any of the touring bikes, and no I'm not being cocky. Notice how SG people make fun of RG's and RG people make fun of SG's? Have you ever heard a RG or SG person poke fun at the King's look? Nope.........
