I'm going to be upgrading the suspension (swingarm, rear wheel, front lowers, front wheel) from an'08 Road Glide onto my '96 Road King. The '08 has the Cush drive system, what am I going to notice on the road?
Thanks for the input.
Kush drive are basically rubber/polyurethane sprocket isolators. So it is not as harsh on the drive train. Dirtbikes dont have them because the dirt act as a cush drive.
08 was the first year MoCo came out with the cush drive. (All Jap bikes had it from the 70's) and they have some mickey mouse 2 part drive pulley to accommodate the rubber pieces. 09 MoCo redesigned the wheel and has the 1 piece drive pulley. 08 is also the one and only year that has bearing shims in front and rear wheels.
Since I never cared for the vrod I know nothing about them. Wonder why the dinks at MoCo found it good for the Vrods but never introduced them to the touring models unto 08?
With the Harley primary compensator, and the belt drive, I do not know why Harley put it on their bikes. The Euro and Japanese bikes with shaft drive have had them since the mid 70s for sure.
