Tour Pak
The King has quite a bit more room, but the chopped will hold a helmet. jacket, chaps and most other goodies you need. The wife got a chopped on her Street Glide and it really looks good. Room wise it is also a good choice because she rides solo and the chopped has all the room she needs. She also feels that the lower, lighter pac is easier to handle.

I think HD makes a similar bag now, and I would imagine other similar aftermarket products are available.

When I purchased my Road King, I thought about the Tour Pack as well. But I couldn’t make up my mind on which one to get. The cost of it also bothered me. What I ended up doing was purchasing the solo detachable tour pac rack and mounting a 3/4 “ piece of plywood to it. Yes! You read that right, a piece of plywood, 16” X 22” with slots routed around the edges for straps to go though.
Then I purchased a dry bag to place in anything that I didn’t want to get wet. The weight is over the rear wheel where I want it and yet I can still open the saddlebag lids when I need to.
I used it for the first time this past weekend on a camping trip. Everything worked out fine. I now consider my bike a beast of burden. It hauled ice and firewood. I attached a few photos of the beast in action. The plywood is the third revision. I’ve changed the platform width from 14” to 16” and changed the location of the routed slots to align with the hooks of a cargo net.
The final unit will be made out of something else. It maybe plastic or a machined metal plate, I don’t know yet. I’m still trying to work out any weaknesses. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions? Its rough I know, but it seems to work. Sorry about ithe image size. These are the first pictures I've posted on this forum.
