Default Do you feel bikers make better cage drivers?

I was wondering. If a cager is also a biker, does that, in some way, make him / her a better cager and less likely to run over a biker. I tend to look at bikes and see them. So I thought bikers might make better cagers, but then I remember what custom bike builder, Billy Lane, did (killed a biker, head-on collison, Billy was driving his pick-up, and was drunk, I believe). Of course, being drunk would have to factor in, right?

I go out of my way to make sure drivers and ridershave enough room and pay paritcular attention to anything on two wheels.

If nothing else, bikers in a cage will usually be more alert in general, since they usually have to be VERY proactive when on two wheels...

Yep...Bikers can do better burn-outs, can drink twice as much at the bar before headin home, are quicker out of the car during side-of -the-road fist fights with some A-Hole...and know all the short-cuts..I'd say they're WAAAAAY better drivers...

Absolutely. And all kidding aside, I think we are more courteous and conscious of the knotheads out there. If nothing else, we certainly are much more aware of motorcyclists and their "cushions".

You bet!

Absolutely, I know that I'm not the only one that drives his auto like they ride their bike. I contantly look for people who may pull out in front of me, follow a safe distance behind, look for ways out if I need one. Kinda like practicing for when I get on my bike. It's funny though, I do find myself having to watch my speed in my cage more than I do on my bike, I guess I'm gettin old.

Definitely a big Yes! "what if......" Everyone had to learn to ride a motorycle at least in a training class for one day in order to get a drivers license......I bet you the stats on cycle fatalities would be significantly lowered and in general drivers would be more aware. At the very least they should make new drivers sit thru the classroom section for an MSF program.

I couldn't agree more...I know I've avoided a couple of people running red lights while in the cage, due to scanning the intersection out of habit.

yeah, I know it's made me a better driver. also helped me make my wife a better driver, after she rode on the back with me a couple time. that and the fact that one time she was driving her cage, i told her if she EVER drives like that again just to pull over and let me walk...
