Default harley heated grip help!!

Hey guys,

I inherited a project from a friend hooking up his heated grips, I believe the part number for the grips are 56512-02C

The problem I have is some of the wiring for the heated grips are missing, specifically the power wire for the left grip with the white plug seen in the picture.

From scouring the internet I believe I am looking for this wire/connector to complete the install, but I have no idea where to get this from.

If any one has any ideas that would be great. The bike is a 2008 Electra glide, but as the grips seem to be aftermarket harley grips the wiring seems to be different from the factory wiring diagram.

Thanks!

Jon

this is the female plug

this appears to be the cable im looking for that plugs into the harley grip

this cable seems to be the one I need

this was the best option I found so far, but I don't think spending 120 bucks on junk grips just for the wiring makes much sense when you can replace everything with new parts for similar pricing, Ideally if someone knew the Deutsch Connectors part or similar that would be great!

Thanks guys

Go to H-D.com, parts, enter the part number in the search tab, when it come up go to the directions tab. There you'll find not only the installation instruction, also a list of sub parts and their part numbers that can be purchased at a dealer or used to search eBay.

That left grip in the above picture is actually for the right side, if you pry the end cap off of the rt grip you will see the matching connector inside the bar. assuming a 2008 is the same as my 2020.
check the fitment of your grips to your year and model.

Thanks for the info, I found this document https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson....1?locale=en_US

which I think we have seen before, however these cables do not appear to line up with the cabling that these parts come with, even those this parts are mentioned in the top of the document. We purchased part number 7 from the exploded parts at the bottom and the wiring is completely different on the grip side.

I wasnt able to find it through the harley website, since its an older item, I was only able to find it through google, but I still cant find an exploder for after market grips that match the cables that we are looking for

The grip with the dial is the left grip, thats the one that we need, there is no end cap on the left grip as there is the dial, the right grip has no power running to it other than what plugs into the end cap, which comes from the left grip.

Unfortunately the left grip is a pain in the butt with wiring etc, the right grip is extremely easy to replace since all of them seem to use the same end cap wiring

Someone else can double check me here but didn't tbw start in 08, meaning you need tbw grips, not ones from an 2002 design.

This is the left side grip, not the tbw grip on the right side

Yeah, but my point still stands that the 08 and up need tbw drips anyway so it's not gonna work. (assuming my memory is correct on the year tbw came out)

these grips are externally wired, so I dont think it matters that there is TBW or not, the long short of it, is the kit comes with all the wiring you need, however we cant seem to find a replacement wire that actually sends power to the left side grip.

It appears to be an odd female plug that i've never seen before, but a lot of the external wiring heated grips seem to use

Part number 56196-08a seems to use the same wiring, and is for TBW bike, so i'm totally confused. Does any one have details on these part numbers? I believe 56955-07 is another part number
