I am building a Performance (Oriented) Bagger. Legend Front, Ohlins Back, RS 468, and DnD Billet Cat.
I know most of the performance guys are rocking 2 up seats but wanted to ask if anyone is riding it with solo seat.
This is not a full Performance Bagger but it's jacked front & rear, tad of engine work, the usual. I run solo only with a Corbin Classic and it works for me but there is a fair amount of movement restriction if you pushing hard.
The purpose of the two up seats or step up seats, is they keep you from rolling or sliding back when you hit the throttle hard. You can run any seat you want, but back support to keep you planted is ideal. And solo with a backrest would work well. I have a Mustang solo but found when I hit it hard I rolled back so I went to the Saddlemen SDC to stop that and found I can still lay down 1000mi plus weekends with it.
Now that I think about it again, yes I've been able to push a little harder since I got my SDC Pro Seat. The only problem with that seat I have is that it seats me too far back. I'm considering either solo or Sly Pro Seat that will seat me forward.
I guess the key is having your hips higher then the knees?
For proper blood flow, yeah.
I got hip to this trip by some New Orleans motorcycle cops. They were doing Mardi Gras duty on their RK police bikes.
As soon as I sat on that seat and heard his spiel about riding all day, it all made sense.
Not only did the police seat get you set up on the proper geometry body wise....it has an air ride bladder. That makes it like coasting on a cloud smooth.
I like the way they look too, strictly business.
