Default New Corbin Seat

I got my Corbin seat today...

I really like it, though it feels firm, firmer than I remember my other one being on a different bike years ago. Hoping to break it in a little tomorrow. I elected to pull off the chrome handles as well, thanks Bill, as soon as I put the new seat on I knew they had to come off.

I have a problem though, there is gap between the seat and the chrome piece that comes down the tank...here's a pic.

Not as noticable in the pic, but I don't like it. Anyone else have this? I don't like it, so I'm going to look for something to fix it with...suggestions?

Regulars will remember a problem I was having with a pain in my back. I also ordered the Wild1 Chubby W0575 handlebars to go with the seat. I don't know if I need them anymore. The seat feels like it moved me back an inch or so and my arms are in a more comfortable position...

Anyone else notice this? I feel like I read this on another post, but I couldn't find it when I skimmed through, so forgive me if this is already a dead horse.

Thats looks good Mac!!!! If there is one thing you can do to make a standard look better it it to loose the factory seat. As for the gap, It really doesnt look bad to me, I dont think I would worry with it.

Did your other seat have the same gap up by the tank?

Hi Mac,

Good choice for your seat! Give the new Corbin 300 to 400 to mold to your fanny. It is very firm, but that's a good thing. Did you get the optional back rest?

Nope.[sm=rolleyes.gif] I even took a rubber mallet and tried to the the seat to slide up some. The piece in the back of the new seat that you put the screw through to hold it to the bike is oval shaped, which allows for differences in the placement of the attachement point to the bike. When I put the screw in, it still has room to slide forward, but I couldn't get the seat to move forward anymore.

Their is a tounge in groove type piece under the seat that holds the seat in place, I'm wondering if I fooled with that if I could get it to move forward a little.

The pic doesn't show it to be as bad as it is. I'm not crazy about it, but I slept pretty good last night just the same.

I'll put some of those miles away today. Tomorrow I leave for another 10 days so no butt time for the seat until I return. I didn't get the optional back rest, it's on the list. My checking account is to the point where Mama starts giving me the evil eye, and I don't like getting the evil eye, I prefer the sexy eye!

Capt'n,

Good looking seat. What a difference it makes in the looks of your bike. If you got the backrest with it, you can take off the backrest you have now, and just use the rider backrest for when the wife is with you. When she is not with you, you really have a clean look.

About the gap, have you insured that the seat is as far forward as it will go? The hole at the rear of the seat were it attachs to the fender is slotted, and allows the seat to slide back a little sometimes. It looks, however, that you have about the same gap that I do. It really dosn't look bad to me.

As far as the bars, I would still try to drop them a little and see how they work with the new seat. The money you save on new bars would go a ways to some other goodies. He! He! He!

The seat is firm, but give a few miles and I think you will love it. They just seem to grow on you.

Regards,

Bill

Mac, while I was posting I see you answered some of the questions I brought up. If the seat won't slide any further forward, I would bet that you could bend or reposition the tongue of the seat to get 1/2 inch or so more forward.. You might also take a little off of the rear of the loop that the tongue goes in to get the seat a little farther forward.

Another thought, the first time you are at a rally where Corbin has a booth you could take the seat by and have them make the adjustment. My experience has been that Corbin wants you happy. You might also send them an Email picture. They might have a simple fix that we haven't thought of.

Regards,

Bill

Bill,

I'm going to fool with the tongue thing today if I get a chance. If I don't, it'll have to wait a couple of weeks until I get back. I like the idea of the pic to Corbin. They really do seem to take pride in their work, and their reputation is stellar...I'll back brief when I know.

Mac,
I run the same seat on my Ultra and just live with the gap, thought about a tank bra but decided against it.
